John's new bed

John seems to be progressing along nicely. The hospital has moved John from the "special" hospital bed to a regular hospital bed. This is because he's able to breath on his back. Also, the doctor's have started to slowly bring him out of the deep sedation that they've had him in. His eyes have now started to "flutter" a little. This is good. He still doesn't recognize Karen or anyone, but isn't in such a deep sleep. Another good sign is that John is starting to cough.

Something that might have helped in John's treatment is that there's another patient with virtually the same thing as John, but has been in the hospital about a week longer. With having another patient to guide them, the doctors are able to treat John better and to know how he should be responding to the medicine. We look at these changes as positive steps in the right direction.
